Wellness @ Work |
CCHA recognises that our employees are our most important asset. The better our employees feels the more effective the Association is likely to be - a healthy workforce is more productive!
CCHA’s Wellness at Work programme aims to help employees to become healthier by providing information and making opportunities available to encourage this. While employees ultimately have to accept responsibility for their own health, the programme aims to help people manage their well-being and promote positive behaviours. The Wellness at Work programme demonstrates the Association’s long term commitment to the duty of care we have towards our staff.
There are lots of things that you can do to help you stay healthy, including eating a healthy diet, taking regular exercise, and not smoking or drinking too much alcohol. The main benefit of these lifestyle choices is that in the future you are less likely to develop health problems such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, liver problems, lung problems and certain cancers.
Our challenge is to take steps to improve our employees’ physical, mental and emotional well-being by providing health information and promoting healthy behaviours at work. By taking up some of the opportunities the programme will offer, you can improve your overall health and well-being and feel great as a result!
There are also advantages to promoting good health among employees for CCHA, including the following:
-
A healthy workforce is often more productive
-
Good health can have a positive impact on sickness absence
-
Well-being programmes can have a positive effect on staff retention
-
An organisation with a reputation for looking after its staff has a better public image
-
Compliance with HSE regulations and the duty of care an organisation has towards its staff
The Association wants to create a healthier and more supportive culture through safe working practices, reduced sickness absence, support for those with disabilities, improved health and fitness and a focus on stress management which will contribute to the retention of staff and improved quality of life at work.
Over the last year, the Wellness at Work Project Team have met regularly to plan a programme of events to promote good health and well-being at CCHA.
The programme is ongoing and we are particularly keen to link into National Health Events, such as Cancer Prevention Week, National Men’s Health Week and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, etc.
