PRAISE FOR CCHA AT ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
To our tenants, partners, exhibitors and friends – thank you for attending our AGM at St. Peter’s Hall, Roath on 15th July 2009.

With over a hundred people attending, the turnout was its usual high standard – and as ever our tenants were in the majority. The long-term support of the event by our tenants has become a feature of our AGM, with many tenants coming year in, year out – in many ways our longer-term members of staff have got to know many of the tenants because they’ve been meeting together on this night, in this way, for more years than its wise to count. |
This is one of the reasons first-time attendees find the atmosphere so convivial.
We’d like to thank a number of people for their contribution on the night:
-
The CCHA Tenants’ Representative Council for staffing their stall and doing their bit to encourage tenants to get involved in our work.
-
Our exhibitors and their teams: Splott Credit Union, the Housing Benefit Team, the You Count Project, the Illegal Money Lending Unit, Job Shop and the Integrate Recruitment and Training Project.
-
Sarah McGill, Cardiff Council’s Chief Officer for Housing and Neighbourhood Renewal who gave an excellent speech on the housing challenges facing Cardiff. We work closely with Cardiff Council on many projects throughout the year and our partnership with the Council is of great value to us. Sarah has been a close colleague of CCHA for many years and so we were delighted when she agreed to speak.
-
Cllr Judith Woodman, Deputy Leader of the Council. Judith has portfolio responsibilities for Communities, Housing and Social Justice and is also Chair of Care and Repair Cardiff, which is now a major part of CCHA’s activities. Judith was fulsome in her praise of CCHA and we are very grateful for her kind words.
Annual Accounts and Annual Report Available Now
Formally launched at the AGM were two important documents: our 2008/09 Annual Accounts and our Annual Report. The Annual Report is a review of out work during the last year featuring highlights from new homes, to service improvements, and a variety of community projects.
Both these documents are available on the site now. Copies are also available by contacting

SURPRISE, SURPRISE – NEW HOMES SOLD SHOCK!
|
It may be hard to believe, given the state of the housing market, but our ten homes for sale at Colchester Avenue have sold pretty quickly. The eight 2 or 3 bedroom family homes and the two, 2 bedroom apartments are now all sold – subject to contract. The homes are part of the Taylor Wimpey Equinox development. Work started in January and they’ll be ready for occupation in a few weeks. |

Located near to schools and shops (Sainsbury’s is just round the corner), bus routes and all local amenities the properties proved very popular. All the properties will be built to high modern standards with fitted kitchens, full central heating and modern bathrooms.
|
Purchasers only have to find 70% of the purchase price and that’s proved a great incentive, particularly in the current economic climate.
Keep an eye on our new development page about progress at Colchester Avenue – there’s more to come we hope.
