Payment Options

Your rent is payable weekly in advance on a Monday. If you want to pay your rent for periods longer than a week, you must do so in advance. You can pay your rent by any of the below methods:

Plastic Rent Payment Swipe Card: You can use your swipe card to pay your rent at CCHA’s Callaghan House office at 50 Meteor Street or any Post Office or any shop or garage displaying the Paypoint or Payzone sign. For details of a retail outlet near you where you can pay your rent please click here. To pay your rent this way:

  • Give your card and payment to the cashier or shop assistant
  • Your payment will be entered on their computer and automatically sent to us
  • You will get a receipt to show you have paid. Keep it safe, just in case
  • N.B. From the 31st January payment of rents at CCHA’s office will be automated and you will need a swipe card like the one pictured below in order to pay your rent. Call customer services on 029 2046 8490 if you have not currently got a swipe card.

Direct Debit: If you have an account with a bank or building society, you can pay this way. Your account will then be debited 12 times a year with your rent calculated on a calendar-monthly basis. So, if your weekly rent is £50 your monthly payment will be: £50 multiplied by 52 weeks = £2,600 divided by 12 months - Monthly payment = £216.67 - If you decide to pay your rent this way, we will make all the arrangements with your bank or building society.

Housing Benefit Direct: If you are receiving Housing Benefit, you will get a monthly cheque from the Council. You can tell the Council to pay your Housing Benefit direct to CCHA, a service that many tenants find convenient. Most of our tenants pay their rent this way.

Post: Cheques should be crossed and made payable to Cardiff Community Housing Association Limited. If you do not send your rent book with your cheque, please make sure you write your name and address on the back of the cheque. Do not send cash by post.

Weekly Rent Round: If you live at one of our sheltered housing schemes. Please ask the Warden for details.
