“A Night At The Museum”

CCHA Annual General Meeting to be Held at The National Museum of Wales, Cardiff.

Two Excellent Speakers and Exclusive Access for Guests to 2 Fantastic Exhibitions

Guests at CCHA’s AGM this year are in for a treat.

This years Annual Meeting, which is to be held on the 12th September 2007, will be at The National Museum of Wales, Cardiff in Museum Place.

As a result of this location we’ve managed to obtain access to two of the Museum’s very best exhibitions – exclusively for our guests.

We’re also delighted to announce that Linda Whittaker, the Welsh Assembly Goverments Director of Housing (pictured opposite) and Joan Lewis, the Chair of CCHA’s Tenants’ Representative Council, will be our Guest speakers.

Full details of the two exhibitions are:

The Evolution of Wales

Follow Wales’ amazing journey from the very beginning of time to the present day. The story begins in space with the Big Bang and takes you on a 4,600 million-year journey, bringing you face to face with dinosaurs and woolly mammoths. Find out how life evolved in Wales and which dinosaurs roamed the land.

Industry to Impressionism – What 2 Sisters did for Wales

National Museum Cardiff has one of the most important Impressionist collections in the world. But did you know that two unmarried sisters who lived most of their lives in the peaceful countryside of Montgomeryshire, donated most of the collection? The extraordinary story of Gwendoline and Margaret Davies is explored for the first time in a major centenary exhibition.

An Open Invitation to CCHA Tenants

If you are a tenant of CCHA, we’d like to extend an open invitation to you to join us on the evening. A buffet and refreshments are available; and with the speakers and the exhibitions it will be an enjoyable evening.

GRANARY – SOLD OUT

Granary External Sep 07.jpg

We’ve now sold (subject to contract) all 12 low-cost home ownership apartments at The Granary, Lloyd George Avenue, Cardiff Bay.

These stylish apartments were our latest LCHO scheme. First-time buyers and others were able to get onto the property ladder by paying around 70% of the open market value of the property, which ranged from £103,400 to £154,000*, through either a mortgage or mortgage and deposit combined.

They will receive a loan for the remaining percentage with nothing to be repaid until the property is sold.

We’re delighted to be providing opportunities like this for people who want to own their own homes but can’t afford it in Cardiff’s expensive property market.

We hope to have more apartments for sale in 2008. Keep an eye on our site or www.myplaceinthebay.co.uk for our next scheme.

To see more on the Granary click here.

If you want to buy right now we have only 1 apartment remaining at our Aquila scheme, located in the heart of Cardiff Bay.

We’ve sold, subject to contract, our other 49 LCHO apartments, but we still have one of these excellent apartments remaining.

If you want to learn more about the story behind this scheme then Click Here and follow the path through our previous new stories.

If you are interested in this property then vist www.myplaceinthebay.co.uk for further infomation.

CCHA Forms Alliance With Foundation Housing To Provide Accommodation For Homeless People

We’re delighted to announce that we have signed an agreement with specialist temporary accommodation provider, Foundation Housing, to provide up to 60 properties for homeless people in Cardiff.

Foundation Housing was established in Cardiff in 1984 as Cardiff & District Shortlife Housing Association. It provides temporary housing for homeless people, by leasing accommodation from private owners or organisations such as housing associations.

CCHA was the first housing association to lease properties to Foundation, over twenty years ago, and we have continued our working relationship with them ever since.

The properties that Foundation provides are ordinary homes in ordinary streets. The properties allow people being considered as homeless by the Cardiff County Council, or awaiting permanent rehousing by the Council or housing associations, to live in their own accommodation rather in hostels or B&B. Foundation also provide support services for the residents where necessary.

Due to recent changes in the way Foundation is funded it was necessary for Foundation to go into a partnership with a housing association – and we were delighted when they chose CCHA.

The partnership is fully supported by Cardiff Council who took a full part in its formation and we thank them for their support.

We are thrilled to be working with Foundation and to be assisting them with providing housing for those in critical need.
