CCHA has welcomed tenants into the 40 new one and two bedroom flats at the Maelfa, Llanedeyrn.

The flats are part of the Maelfa Regeneration Scheme, a multi-million pound project to transform the area into a new, vibrant heart for the Llanedeyrn community.

The development is being constructed by Bridgend based contractors, Jehu, and working closely with Cardiff Council, includes the redevelopment of the Maelfa Shopping Centre, involving the demolition and rebuilding of the shopping units, which are due to open in March.

One of the first tenants to move into the new flats is Peter Pace, who has been working for Jehu as a site labourer for 13 years.

Peter was delighted by the news that he had been allocated one of the new flats.

“Working for Jehu, I knew that the apartment was going to be of a really high standard” Peter said. “This new development is going to transform Llanedeyrn and I am really happy to be living here.”

Peter said that the move had gone very smoothly, with CCHA staff keeping him informed throughout and giving him a tour of the development before moving in.
