Abolition of the Right to Buy and Associated Rights (Wales) Act 2018

The Abolition of the Right to Buy and Associated Rights (Wales) Act 2018 gained Royal Assent on 24 January 2018.

The Welsh Government has published an Information for Tenants document in English and Welsh explaining the effect of the legislation.  If you require a copy please contact the Customer Service Team at CCHA on 029 2046 8490.

Alternative language versions (Polish, Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish and Somalian) of the Welsh Government information document, and an easy read version, will shortly be available on the Welsh Government website at:http://gov.wales/topics/housing-and-regeneration/legislation/abolition-of-right-to-buy-and-associated-rights/?lang=en

Further information regarding the Act can be found at:  http://www.senedd.assembly.wales/mgIssueHistoryHome.aspx?IId=17260

What does this mean to you?

Tenants who live in Cardiff no longer have the right to apply to purchase their homes because Cardiff Council applied to the Welsh Government to suspend the Right to Buy and Right to Acquire in all areas of Cardiff.
